Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

Promptrics collects the following data, and stores it exclusively on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API:

• Prompt text (first 150 characters only): A short excerpt of your prompt, truncated to 150 characters, so you can identify entries in your history.
• Wait time: The number of milliseconds between sending your prompt and receiving the first token of the AI response.
• Platform: Which AI tool was used (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity).
• Timestamp: The date and time the prompt was sent, stored as a Unix timestamp.

2. What we do NOT collect

We want to be unambiguous about this:

• ✕No data is ever sent to any server
• ✕No analytics or telemetry of any kind
• ✕No user accounts or sign-ups
• ✕No cookies or cross-site tracking
• ✕No advertising identifiers
• ✕No full prompt text — only the first 150 characters
• ✕No AI responses or reply content
• ✕No browsing history outside of the supported AI platforms

3. How data is stored

All data is stored locally using chrome.storage.local, which is scoped to the Promptrics extension on your device. This storage is never synced to Chrome Sync or any cloud service. It is never accessible to websites, other extensions, or any party other than you.

4. Automatic data deletion

Records older than 30 days are automatically deleted from local storage. This happens entirely on your device — no server is involved. You can also manually clear all data at any time from the extension popup.

5. How the extension works

Promptrics uses a content script that runs on supported AI platforms (chat.openai.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, perplexity.ai). The content script observes the page DOM to detect when you send a prompt and when the AI begins streaming a response. The timing measurement happens entirely within your browser tab. No network requests are made by the extension.

6. Third-party services

Promptrics does not integrate with any third-party services. There are no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting services, no advertising networks, and no data brokers involved in any part of the extension's operation.

7. Children's privacy

Promptrics does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected server-side, there is no risk of inadvertent collection from any user, including minors.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We will not make changes that retroactively weaken the privacy protections described here without clear notice.
