Terms of Service

1. The service

Promptrics is a Chrome browser extension that measures and displays the wait time between sending a prompt to an AI tool and receiving the first token of the response. It currently supports ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. Promptrics is provided free of charge.

2. How it works

To measure response times, the extension reads the DOM (page structure) of supported AI platforms. This is a standard browser technique used to observe page changes. The extension does not intercept network traffic, does not read full prompt or response content in any transmitted form, and does not transmit any personal data to any server. All measurements are stored locally on your device only.

3. Free to use

Promptrics is free. There is no subscription, no premium tier, and no payment required. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future, but the core functionality described herein will remain available without charge.

4. No warranty

Promptrics is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that:

• The extension will function without interruption or errors
• Measurements will be accurate in all circumstances or on all devices
• The extension will continue to work if supported AI platforms change their interfaces
• The extension will be compatible with future versions of Chrome

5. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for your own use of Promptrics and for complying with all applicable laws and third-party terms of service, including the terms of any AI platforms you use. You agree not to:

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the extension in ways that violate applicable law
• Use Promptrics to circumvent any AI platform's terms of service or usage restrictions
• Redistribute or repackage the extension without permission

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Promptrics and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, lost profits, or business interruption — arising from your use of or inability to use the extension, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service, which in the case of the free extension is zero.

7. Changes and discontinuation

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Promptrics — in whole or in part — at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these terms. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Because all data is stored locally, discontinuation of the service does not result in loss of your stored data.

8. Intellectual property

The Promptrics name, logo, extension code, and website content are owned by Promptrics and protected by applicable intellectual property law. These terms do not grant you any rights to use our trademarks, branding, or intellectual property other than as necessary to use the extension as intended.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Promptrics shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before any other formal process.
